iri는 로컬 재즈 바에서 피아노를 연주하고 노래하며 활동을 시작하였고 2014년, 패션잡지 NYLON JAPAN과 Sony Music이 후원하는 오디션에서 대상을 수상했다. 싱어송라이터로서 그녀의 보컬은 힙합/R&B 스타일의 비트와 신나는 댄스 트랙과 매끄럽게 결합한다.
그녀는 2016년 Victor Entertainment의 Colorful Records에서 메이저 레이블로 데뷔하여 iTunes Store에서 탑 10에 올랐고 힙합/랩 차트에서 1위 자리를 차지한다. 이듬해 Nike 캠페인 노래에 대한 작업은 광범위한 주목을 받았다. Chloe나 Valentino와 같은 고급 패션 브랜드의 후원 파티에서 라이브 공연을 통해 주목을 받은 그녀는 단연 떠오르는 여성 신예이다. 최근 몇 년 동안 그녀는 프랑스의 뮤직 페스티벌에 참가하고 중국 투어를 하는 등 해외 활동도 이어나갔다.
2021년 10월, 나고야, 후쿠오카, 오사카, 도쿄에서 개최된 기념 투어 "iri 5th Anniversary Live "2016-2021"에 착수하고 최고의 히트 앨범인 [2016-2020]을 발매했다. 2021년 RADWIMPS의 앨범 [Forever Daze]의 수록곡 "Tokyo"의 피처링 보컬을 맡았다.
2023년 5월, 그녀의 여섯 번째 앨범 [Private]과 함께 일본 전역의 8곳에서 홀 투어가 시작되었다. 2024년 3월에는 그녀의 성공적인 경력에 기념비적인 이정표를 세울 일본 부도칸에서의 첫 단독 공연을 개최할 예정으로 중요한 순간이 그녀를 기다리고 있다.
Iri (stylized as iri) began performing in a local jazz bar, singing and playing the piano, and in 2014, she won the grand prize in an audition sponsored by the fashion magazine NYLON JAPAN and Sony Music. The singer-songwriter seamlessly blends her vocals with hip-hop/R&B style beats and uplifting dance tracks.
She made her major-label debut in 2016 on Victor Entertainment’s Colourful Records, reaching the Top 10 in the iTunes Store and securing the No.1 slot on the hip-hop/rap chart. The following year, her work on a Nike campaign song garnered widespread attention. She's an emerging female artist, attracting notice through live performances at parties sponsored by high-end fashion brands like Chloé and Valentino. In recent years, she has performed overseas, participating in a music festival in France and touring in China.
In October 2021, iri embarked on an anniversary tour "iri 5th Anniversary Live “2016-2021” held in Nagoya, Fukuoka, Osaka, and Tokyo, and released a greatest hits album "2016-2020". She was the featured vocalist in the song "Tokyo feat. iri" by RADWIMPS in the band’s 2021 album "Forever Daze".
Her sixth album, "PRIVATE," was launched in May 2023, accompanied by a hall tour in 8 locations across Japan. A significant moment awaits her in March 2024, as she is scheduled to host her first solo performance at the Nippon Budokan, marking a monumental milestone in her flourishing career.
